4 Tastebud Tickling Crispy Fried Chicken Wing Recipes

It’s no secret that we are a nation that is crazy about crisps. It’s also no surprise that we love fried chicken (I mean, who doesn’t?). So, we thought why not combine the two to create truly tasty and incredibly crunchy fried chicken that everyone can enjoy?

And we did just that, creating these four fantastic fried chicken recipes that use some of our most popular flavours of The Kings Deli crisps to make a mixture of taste and texture that is fit for royalty.

American BBQ Wings

Ingredients

The Marinade

  • 1 x teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 x tablespoon black pepper, ground
  • 2 x tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 x tablespoon chilli powder
  • 1 x tablespoon onion powder
  • 3 x garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 x tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 x teaspoons light brown sugar
  • 1 x teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 x tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 x teaspoon English mustard
  • 2 x tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 x tablespoon, white wine vinegar
  • 1.5kg x chicken wings

The Crispy CoatingSticky Rib

  • 1 x cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 x cup cornstarch
  • 1 x tablespoon paprika
  • 1 x teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 x teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 x tablespoon White pepper
  • 1 x tablespoon Garlic powder
  • 1 x tablespoon Celery salt or dried onion granules
  • 1 x tablespoon Black pepper
  • 1 x teaspoon Ground Mustard
  • 2 x teaspoon Basil
  • 1x teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 x pack The King’s Deli Sticky Rib Crisps, crushed
  • 1 ½ x cups cold water

To Deep Fry

  • 500ml x Canola Oil

Method

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients for the crispy coating before slowly adding cold water and mix until a thick pancake mix consistency is achieved. Let it rest in the fridge.
  2. Fill a skillet or dutch oven with enough oil to deep fry the chicken (2 inches will do) and heat the oil to a temperature of 175C (350F)
  3. Remove chicken and batter from the fridge, submerge each wing into the batter, make sure it’s coated in a thick layer of batter before carefully adding it into the oil. Heat for 7-8 minutes (or until they are golden brown). Do not crowd the pan when deep-frying chicken wings.
  4. Once cooked, remove wings and place on tissue or wire rack to allow excess oil to drain. Once they’re cool enough, the Deep Fried American BBQ Wings are ready to eat

 

Jerk Chicken Wings

Ingredients

The Marinade

  • 1 x teaspoon thyme
  • 2 x teaspoon allspice, ground
  • ½ x teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • ½ x teaspoon cumin, ground
  • ½ x teaspoon nutmeg, ground
  • 3 x tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 2 x tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 x lime juice
  • 6 x garlic cloves, blended
  • 1 x inch fresh ginger, blended
  • 3 x red chillies, blended
  • 1 x small white onion, blended
  • 2 x tablespoons Olive Oil

The Crispy CoatingJerk Crisps

  • 1 x cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 x cup cornstarch
  • 1 x teaspoon paprika
  • ½ x teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 x teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 x pack The King’s Deli Jamaican Jerk Crisps, crushed
  • 1 x teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ¾ x cups cold water

To Deep Fry

  • 500ml x Canola Oil

  • 2 x tablespoon mirin (sweet Japanese cooking wine)
  • 2 x tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1 x teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 2 x tablespoon sake (Chinese Shaoxing wine also works )
  • ½ x teaspoon MSG
  • 3 x garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 x inch piece fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 x tablespoon olive oil
  • 1.5kg x chicken wings

The Crispy CoatingKatsu Crisps

  • 1 x cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 x cup cornstarch
  • 1 x pack The King’s Deli Katsu Curry Crisps, crushed
  • 1 x teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ¾ x cups cold water

To Deep Fry

  • 2 x stalks lemongrass, crushed
  • 1 x teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1 x tablespoon chilli flakes
  • 1 x tablespoon MSG
  • 1.5kg x chicken wings

The Crispy CoatingSriracha Chilli Crisps

  • 1 x cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 x cup cornstarch
  • ½ x teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 x teaspoon basil
